(Yogyakarta, 31 July 2023) The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is pleased to announce the successful commencement of the Undergraduate Pharmaceutical Industry Research Program 2023, hosted at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Running from 3rd to 28th July 2023, this month-long program has brought together aspiring pharmacy undergraduate students from UGM, namely Nafisa Zahrah, Salsabiela Milenia Putri, and Salsabila Ramadhani Putra. These students are participating in this research initiative as a crucial part of their academic portfolio, contributing to the enrichment of their degree programs and preparing them for international mobility opportunities. This program is a part of Faculty of Pharmacy, International Undergraduate Program (IUP) international mobility activity.
Under the guidance of esteemed supervisors, Dr. Shaik Nyamathulia and Dr. Janet Tan Sui Ling from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya, the students are engaged in the research project titled “Preparation and Characterization of Mucoadhesive Gastroretentive Formulations of Rutin for Anti-Ulcer Activity.” This cutting-edge research aims to explore innovative pharmaceutical formulations with potential anti-ulcer properties. The program not only provides an invaluable hands-on research experience for the participating students but also reinforces the commitment to academic excellence and collaboration between UGM and Universiti Malaya.
This research take steps demonstrates the long-standing bilateral partnership between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Malaya, Malaysia. This relationship has been critical in fostering mutual growth, cultural interaction, and advances in pharmaceutical research. This Research Program for Undergraduate student demonstrates both universities’ commitment to developing the next generation of pharmaceutical researchers and enhancing international relationships within academia.
